Residence permit in Montenegro

In Montenegro, a foreign citizen can obtain a residence permit on the following grounds:
- Employment in any of the officially registered companies in Montenegro. In this case, the residence permit is given only for the period of the contract and is extended for the next period in accordance with the contract of employment. Also in this case, other family members can obtain a residence permit under the procedure for reunification with a family member, only if they are legally married and have documents confirming this.
- Education. A residence permit for foreign students of universities in Montenegro is also given for a year and is extended for each subsequent academic year.
- Company opening. A residence permit is obtained for a period of one year with a subsequent extension if the company continues to operate.
- Buying a property. A residence permit when buying real estate is obtained for a period of one year, with a subsequent extension.
Montenegrin citizenship can only be obtained under the Montenegrin citizenship by investment program, which is valid until December 31, 2021. Collection and preparation of documents takes up to 1 month.
There are two investment options for obtaining Montenegrin citizenship: option 1 from €350 thousand, option 2 from €550 thousand. This amount includes: investment in real estate, gratuitous contribution, due diligence, administrative fee.
